5 Rules for Eating Healthier
Perhaps you saw the recent 60 Minutes episode where Michael Pollan - author of many books including "In Defense of Food" shares his 5 Rules for Eating Healthier. In case you'd like the summary, here it is. Wise words indeed!!
Eat Food, Not Too Much, Mostly Plants
Avoid foods with ingredients a 3rd Grader can't pronounce
Don't be fooled by packaging. The splashy blurb for "whole grain," "low fat" and other various claims may still be covering up a food that is highly processed.
Shop the perimeter. Most of the simple, healthiest foods are found in the outer edge of the grocery store. Only go into the center aisles for pre-planned purchases. You will then avoid most of the highly processed/lower nutrient food items that can be so tempting.
Cook at home. You have better control over ingredients when you cook and eat home cooked meals and the added benefit of time with family is the best benefit of all!

Family meals improve nutrition and relationships!
