How much protein do you need per day? The Dietary Reference Intake is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight or 0.36 grams per pound. That means the average person should take in about 60 to 72 grams of protein per day. If you're eating three meals a day, you should have at least 20 grams of protein per meal to meet these recommendations.
So what are some practical ways to accomplish that protein intake goal?
3 eggs any way you like – scrambled, over easy, hard boiled, add sliced veggies to increase the nutritional value.
1 cup Greek Yogurt – make a parfait by topping with berries and nuts.
4 oz chicken or turkey - about the size of a deck of cards
Life Shake – Shaklee’s delicious super healthy protein powder is great alone or mixed in wonderful smoothie recipes.
Soups can be super – whether you prefer chili, chicken noodle, or veggie beef, a delicious batch of homemade soup including meat of choice, beans, lentils, barley and lots of veggies can stretch your budget and boost your healthy nutrient intake.
