The Shaklee Difference – What’s The Big Deal??
Let’s face it, there are some things that are totally fine to purchase the cheapest item in the marketplace – does it really matter if your office supplies and home décor products are made by the best manufacturer? (Although, if you have ever purchased crummy tape, a cheap printer, or low grade paint you may beg to differ!)
However, when it comes to supplements and personal care products, choosing cheap may actually cost you more money in the long run by not providing the benefit you are seeking or even doing harm. As one of my Shaklee business partners often says, “The most expensive supplement is the one that doesn’t work!”
Many consumers are concerned about the quality of dietary supplements, especially because of recent news reports about contamination, misleading claims, and test results by quality assurance labs revealing substantial differences between what the label says and what is actually in the bottle. Evaluating the huge assortment of products can be a monumental task. How does a consumer know what to choose?
The Shaklee Difference
Because it is nearly impossible to assess every product in the marketplace, perhaps the best place to begin comparing and contrasting quality is with the supplement company itself. Here are 3 things to consider:
1. Company standards for product research and development
2. Ingredient purity
3. Proof of long-range impact on health

Product research and development
· Each Shaklee product is formulated with nutritional ingredients that have been extensively studied to confirm safety and efficacy. Shaklee formulations are based on science not fads.
· Key ingredients are included at clinically efficacious levels – often significantly higher than other companies in the market. They are also created in combinations that provide scientifically proven synergistic benefits.
· Shaklee’s formulations enhance bioavailability of nutrients, and these formulations are tested to confirm nutrient delivery advantages.
· Shaklee is committed to creating natural products and avoiding the use of artificial flavors, sweeteners, and added preservatives. Shaklee uses only non-genetically modified soy protein. (Did you know that most supplements on the supermarket shelf are synthetic and are difficult for the body to digest? Even if the label has the word natural on it, the products may only contain a small percentage of natural ingredients! Let the buyer beware.)
· Shaklee developed many of the standards and protocols that are now referred to as Good Manufacturing Practices. (GMPs)
· Shaklee is the industry leader in ongoing research with over 120 scientific publications, published in peer-reviewed journals. This is far more than any other wellness company in the US
I know all of this information can sound a little bit like "jargon" but please ask questions if you'd like to know and understand more.
Ingredient Purity

Shaklee conducts over 100,000 tests annually to ensure the safety and efficacy of their products.
Shaklee does not simply accept the Certificate of Analysis provided by the ingredient supplier, but rather retests for contaminants to confirm that certificate.
All ingredients are tested under the incredibly stringent Shaklee protocol – unique in the industry – which tests for up to 350 chemical contaminants including pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, solvent residues and much more. (This standard is much stricter than the US Pharmacopeia standard)
Each lot of Shaklee products is tested post-production to ensure that every ingredient listed on the label is present in the appropriate amounts.
Proof of Long-Range Impact on Health
The Landmark Study – the only one of its kind – Conducted by the University of California Berkeley School of Public Health showed that people who took multiple Shaklee supplements over a 20 year period, had markedly better health than both people who took a multivitamin from other companies and non-supplement users.
Wellness has been Shaklee’s Main Mission for over 65 years, and we are thrilled to support you in your quest to “Live Well.”
